Wei Jingsheng Visits New Zealand, Speaks at Seminars on the Chinese Cultural Revolution and 1989 Democracy Movement in Auckland and Wellington

The Chinese democracy and human rights leader, Mr. WEI Jingsheng, visited New Zealand in early June.  He gave speeches at Auckland and the Capital City Wellington and appeared at seminars at the Victoria University of Wellington, on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Chinese Cultural Revolution and the 17th anniversary of June 4 massacre.

In his speech, Mr. Wei pointed out that the largest destruction resulting from the Chinese Cultural Revolution under Chinese Communism was the devastation to the Chinese culture, the education system, and moral values.  It was the total denial of the traditional Chinese Culture by the radical Communism ideology.

When asked during the questions from the audience about whether China would split into several countries, Wei answered that that was not most important issue to the average Chinese folks.  To them, the size of the country they are living in is not as important as a good life.

Wei was asked about the Chinese Communists practice of harvesting human organs from Falun Gong practitioners.  He pointed out that the public had witnessed the TianAnMen Massacre on June 4, 1989, by the Chinese Communists.  When he was jailed in Chinese prison, he investigated the organ harvesting from prisoners by the Chinese Communists, which was proven to be true.  So now he has been urging the American government to investigate this matter.  He wishes the friends in New Zealand would push their government to investigate this crime against humanity.

These activities were organized by several organizations including the Asia Research Institute of Victoria University of Wellington, the New Zealand Charter of the Overseas Chinese Democracy Coalition, the Asia English Newspaper of the New Zealand, and New Newspaper, etc.
