Wei Jingsheng in Los Angeles Expresses Solidarity with the Tibetans in Condemning the Execution of the Tibetans by the Chinese Communist Regime

(Radio Free Asia Xiao Rong reporting, October 28, 2009) Jointly initiated by the Dalai Lama and Wei Jingsheng, chairman of the Overseas Chinese Democracy Coalition, the "Chinese-Tibetan Friendship Society," California Branch, was inaugurated on the 27th in Los Angeles.  Before the assembly, Wei Jingsheng and overseas Tibetan groups gathered in front of the Chinese Consulate in Los Angeles to protest and condemn the Chinese regime's brutal persecution of Tibetans.  They also urged the Western society to pay more attention to Tibet.

The day before Wei Jingsheng attended the inaugural meeting of the Chinese-Tibetan Friendship Society Southern California chapter, he joined the overseas Tibetan groups and local pro-democracy activists gathered in front of the Chinese Consulate in protest, asking for an immediate end to persecution in Tibet.  Wei Jingsheng said: "Recently the Chinese Communists executed by firing squad several previously captured so-called "3.14 rioters".  These people should not have been killed, or even arrested.  In fact, we are more and more convinced that the 3.14 incident was a Communist's conspiracy.  The CCP sent people out to fan the flames and incite the masses in order to suppress the Tibetan resistance movement.   In such a political event, who is the thug then?  It is the Communist Party!  The execution of the Tibetans was to frighten the people.  It is an act of official state terrorism.  It is an outrage.  Therefore we came here today to protest. "

Wei Jingsheng emphasized that the recently executed Tibetans were not the so-called "thugs" as it was on the sentence papers by the Communist courts.  He called upon the outside world to see the truth and oppose the violence.  He said: "When Tibetan friends are in trouble, we should all support them.  We are all victims of the Communist Party.  We must stand together to fight against the Communist Party."

Responding to Western countries having less attention on Tibet recently, especially concerning Taiwan president Ma Ying-jeou's attitude towards the Dalai Lama during his visit to pray for the victims of the disasters in Taiwan, Wei was angry.  He said: "Taiwan's Government has set a very bad precedent.  Look at how many police they sent to protect the Taiwan Affairs officials of the Chinese State Council visiting Taiwan.  Ma's administration used this way to protect Communist officials.  Yet, why were they so impolite to the Dalai Lama?  We know that protest and marching in Taiwan is normal, but allowing it turn into a harassment-type protest, this is absolutely the responsibility of that government.   President Ma is trying to please the Mainland China.  He has done terribly. I am outraged. "

A Parliament member of the Tibetan government-in-exile in Dharamsala who arrived in Los Angeles also pointed out that the Chinese authorities vilify Tibetans.  He condemned the practice of executing Tibetans.  He said: "We are here today calling attention upon the Communist Party putting four Tibetans on death sentences on October 20.  In fact they were four innocent people; they were just peaceful demonstrators, but were sentenced for execution.  Before the execution, the authorities were not in accordance with the judicial procedures for public trial and only made a unilateral determination.  It is not fair.  I beg the Chinese government to end early its massacre in Tibet."
