Overseas Chinese Democracy Coalition (OCDC) Holds Its Official Conference in Orlando, Florida, USA

 

 

From January 8 to 10, 2010, the Overseas Chinese Democracy Coalition held its official conference in Orlando, Florida, USA.  Important members and leaders of the OCDC from several countries attended the conference.

 

Since its founding in 1998, under the leadership of Wei Jingsheng, the Overseas Chinese Democracy Coalition (OCDC) has been able to contribute greatly to the rights-defending and democracy movement inside China, as well as win the respect and support from human rights and democratic organizations and people all over the world.

 

In the past decade, the OCDC has held its conferences in Niagara-on-the-Lake in Canada, New York in the USA, Bonn in Germany, Washington DC in the USA, Geneva in Switzerland, and Frankfurt in Germany.

 

During the conference, delegates discussed the current situation inside China, including ethnic group issues and religion and faith issues, as well as the international influence on Chinese democratic progress after 20 years since the TianAnMen Massacre and the fall of the Berlin Wall.  After the OCDC chairman's report and discussion fellowed, the delegates also listened to the reports and analyses of various regions and countries.

 

Near the end of the conference, the leadership of the Overseas Chinese Democracy Coalition was elected as follows:

Chairman of OCDC: WEI Jingsheng

Secretary-General: HUANG Ciping

Deputy Secretary-Generals: WANG Guoxing (Netherlands) & Dr. James B. CHEN (Little Rock, USA)

 

All the delegates also voted to have the chairman to decide on the chairs of various committees and regional coordinators, on the consideration of the general nominations.  These chairs and coordinators' term will continue until the next official conference of the OCDC.

 

The committee chairs are as follows:

1. Foreign Affair Committee: (to be named)

2. Theory Committee: Dr. Yuejun QIAN (Germany)

3. Rights Defending Committee: ZHANG Guoting (Denmark)

4. Legal Committee: Attorney YE Ning (Washington DC)

5. Communication Committee: SONG Shuyuan (New York)

6. Publicity Committee: NI Yuxian (NewYork)

7. Art Committee: WANG Haiyan (New York)

 

The regional coordinators are as follows:

Scandinavia: Dr. Gang LIU

Mid-Europe: CHEN Nailiang

Southern Europe: Dr. Ce WANG

Japan: LIN Fei

South Korea: WU Zhenrong

Hong Kong: CHEN Yuanzeng

East USA: SUN Yan, ZHENG Kexue

Southern California: LIU Yinquan

Northern California: Dr. Xun GE

Melbourne: GAO Jian

Sydney: Dr. Qing LI

中国民主运动海外联席会议在美国佛罗里达州奥兰多市召开正式会议

 

 

2010年1月8日到10日,中国民主运动海外联席会议在美国佛罗里达州奥兰多市召开了正式会议。来自各大洲的代表参加了会议。

 

中国民主运动海外联席会议自1998年成立以来,在魏京生主席的领导下致力于中国国内民主与维权运动的发展,并在国际社会上得到了民主力量普遍的尊重和支持。

 

十多年来,联席会议已在加拿大的湖边尼亚加拉村、美国的纽约、德国的波恩、美国首都华盛顿、瑞士日内瓦、及德国的法兰克福等地召开过会议。

 

会议讨论了当前中国的形势和民族问题、信仰团体的问题。会议还讨论了当前世界的形势及其对中国民主化的影响,及中国民主运动的对策。

 

会议听取了魏京生主席的工作报告,并汇报和分析了各国各地区的形势,就当前的问题进行了热烈的讨论。(一些代表因故未能到会,委托他人代表)。会议结束前,就本届联席会议的工作结构进行了选举。

 

联席会议经投票选举决定其负责人为:

主席:魏京生; 秘书长: 黄慈萍; 副秘书长: 王国兴、陈邦铮。

 

联席会议还经投票通过决定:各功能组负责人及各地方协调人由主席任免。任期可延续到下一次联席会议。

 

联席会议主席就各功能组任命如下:

维权组组长:张国亭;

理论组组长:钱跃君;

法律组组长: 叶宁;

联络组组长: 宋书元;

文宣组组长: 倪育贤;

艺术组组长: 王海燕;

外交组组长: 未定。
