Wei Jingsheng Visits the Netherlands, in Support of a Series of Activities Including a Commemoration of the June 4 Massacre in Beijing in 1989

On June 6, 2010, Wei Jingsheng arrived in the Netherlands from Germany.  The next day, he attended activities in Rotterdam observing the 21st anniversary of the June 4 Massacre in Beijing.  The event was organized by the democracy leaders in the Netherlands, including the chairman of the Chinese Democratic Front, Wang Guoxing.  Wei Jingsheng also met and talked with the well-known Dutch comedian/actor/writer Erik van Muiswinkel, and received interviews from other Dutch Sino-experts and reporters.

On June 7, Wei Jingsheng was invited to The Hague to meet with the Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organization (UNPO) to discuss having Chinese democratic leaders joining the organization as a way to deny the illegitimate regime of the Chinese Communist Party.

During the seminar observing the 21st anniversary of June 4, Wei Jingsheng said one reason for his visit to Europe this time was to contact European politicians to encourage them to reduce their trade deficit with China with the goal to reach a trade balance.  He said: "A trade balance will not only be beneficial to the West, but also to the democratic process in China, and help to improve Chinese economic conditions."

Wei Jingsheng pointed out that the Chinese Communists are using immoral methods to keep this huge trade deficit with Western countries, including suppressing labor costs and cheaply selling out all sorts of resources.  If the trade deficits are reduced, the Chinese people would get more income, and the environment could also be improved.  He said: "Reducing the trade deficit would help the West to improve their own employment, while more products are kept inside China thus reducing inflation in the benefit of the Chinese people.  This will reduce the status of the Communist State, thus provide an opportunity for the democratic forces inside China."  He went on further: "The reduction of this trade deficit is really a political struggle.  If the Communist Party loses this battle, it loses on the political stage both inside and outside China.  Its loss would promote a change in China."

The chairman of Chinese Democratic Front, Wang Guoxing, said: "The last 21 years have passed so fast.  If I cannot return to China in the next 21 years, I will regret it all my life.  My biggest hope is to be able to return to China for a memorial of June 4 there."  Wang further expressed: "Once, I joined many affiliated organizations of the Communist Party.  After the June 4 Massacre of 1989, I attended seminars and gave speeches denouncing the Communist Party."

The well-known Dutch comedian/actor/writer Erik van Muiswinkel said that he will hold wine parties in celebration of the fall of the Chinese Communist Party.   He thinks the Communist Party is like a Mafia that uses very hard-line measures to rule China, and wishes the Chinese people will replace it in the near future with a democratic system that is suitable to themselves.  Mr. van Muiswinkel very much cares about the Chinese human rights condition and the Chinese political situation.  In 2008, with Amnesty International, he called on the Netherlands society to boycott the Beijing Olympics due to its poor human rights record.  He also produced a TV program calling for attention to Chinese human rights attorney Gao ZhiSheng.
