Wei Jingsheng Participates in a Series of Activities and Delivers a Speech on Vietnam Human Rights Day

May 11, 2011, was the Seventeenth Commemoration of Vietnam Human Rights Day. On that day, chairman of the Overseas Chinese Democracy Coalition and Asia Democracy Alliance Wei Jingsheng was invited to attend the related activities and to give a speech at the US Senate. Hundreds of people participated in these events. The events were organized mainly by Vietnamese human rights organizations and community leaders. Many people including Wei Jingsheng and Congressman Chris Smith (NJ) spoke at the event and encouraged the Vietnamese peoples' struggle for their freedom and democracy. Wei Jingsheng pointed out that the Vietnamese people share the same fate as the Chinese people. Without the support of the big Chinese Communist dictatorship, it would be difficult for smaller authoritarian regimes such as Vietnam, North Korea, and Myanmar to survive. Mr. Wei further pointed out that the Chinese Communist Party is trying hard to become the backbone of the authoritarian regimes in the world, so people should focus their effort to break this backbone.

During that evening, Mr. Wei and more than one hundred of politicians and human rights activists attended a dinner organized by the Vietnamese community and human rights organizations. The Executive Director of the Wei Jingsheng Foundation, Huang Ciping, also attended the daytime activities and dinner.

魏京生参加越南人权日一系列活动并致词

二零一一年五月十一日中午，中国民主运动海外联席会议主席、亚洲民主联盟主席魏京生，应邀在美国国会参议院参加了上百人参加的第十七届越南人权日的活动。活动是由越南人权组织和华盛顿地区越南人的社区组织等共同举办的。魏京生先生和美国国会议员史密斯先生等在会上先后发言，鼓励越南人民争取民主自由的斗争。魏京生指出：越南人民的命运和中国人民的命运息息相关。如果没有中共这个大的独裁政权的支持，越南、朝鲜、缅甸这些小的独裁政权也难以维持下去。魏京生还指出：中共正在谋求成为世界专制独裁政权的总后台，人们应该集中力量推倒这个总后台。

晚间，魏京生先生和上百名政治家和人权活动家，出席了越南人权组织举办的晚宴。魏京生基金会执行主任黄慈萍女士，也参加了中午的活动和晚宴。
