Wei Jingsheng Visits the European Union

 

 

On November 17, 2011, WEI Jingsheng, chairman of the Overseas Chinese Democracy Coalition, and HUANG Ciping, executive director of the Wei Wei Jingsheng Foundation, had a one hour long meeting in Brussels, Belgium, with the EU officials of the European External Action Service regarding human rights affairs in China.  Among these officials, there is Mr. Michalis ROKAS, deputy head of China, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, Mongolia division, and Mr. Toby KING, policy officer of the Human rights instruments and bilanteral cooperation.

 

The two sides exchanged their opinions regarding the situation in China, its human rights conditions, as well as their views of China-EU relations.  In particular, they talked about the recent case of Ai Weiwei, to analysis the characteristics of recent backwards of human rights conditions conducted by the Chinese Communist regime.

 

The European officials have also complained about lack of sincerity and results from the Chinese governement during their human rights dialogues.  They wanted Mr. Wei to provide more effective recommendations to promote human rights improvements in China.  Mr. Wei also hopes the two sides to increase cooperation, in an effort to promote new changes in China.

魏京生访问欧盟

 

 

2011年11月17日,中国民主运动海外联席会议主席魏京生和魏京生基金会执行主任黄慈萍,在比利时首府布鲁塞尔的欧盟总部和负责中国人权事务的官员们进行了一小时的会谈。其中包括中蒙部的副主任Michalis ROKAS先生,及人权与双边合作的政策官员Toby KING先生。

 

双方交换了对中国形势、人权状况和中欧关系的看法,尤其是以近期发生的艾未未案件为典型,分析了中共近期在人权事务上倒退的特点。

 

欧洲的官员们也抱怨和中国政府的对话时感到缺少诚意和成果。他们希望魏先生提供更有效的建议,以促进中国在人权方面的改善。魏先生也希望双方增加合作,促使中国产生新的变化。
