Wei Jingsheng Discusses Whether Bo Xilai's Case is a Political Struggle or a Criminal Case on Voice of America's Call-in Program "Issues and Opinions"

On April 11, 2012, the highest level of the Chinese Communist Party announced Bo Xilai's removal from all the posts he had within the Party, and the initiation of investigations against his alleged serious violations.  Bo Xilai's wife had already been arrested by the judiciary institutes due to her suspected role in murdering a British citizen Neil Wood (also known as Nick Heywood).  This political scandal that resulted from Chongqing vice mayor and police chief Wang Lijun fleeing to the U.S. consulate is still confusing and shady.  Is this a political struggle, or a criminal case?

On April 12, 2012, Mr. Wei Jingsheng, chairman of the Overseas Chinese Democracy Coalition, was on VOA's call-in program "Issues and Opinions" to talk about this issue.  The program was hosted by Lin Sen of VOA, and attended by senior reporters of VOA, Hai Tao and Bao Shen.  The program was broadcast via TV, radio and through the Internet.  Shortly after, the hits on VOA's related video on YouTube already surpassed more than 50,000.  They are available at:
