Wei Jingsheng Met with Member of Congress and State Department Officials

At noon on Monday February 10, 2014, Mr. Wei Jingsheng and Ms. Huang Ciping, the executive director of the Wei Jingsheng Foundation, went to the United States House of Representatives and met with senior congressman Frank Wolf.  The two sides discussed the recent deterioration of the human rights in China, especially the situation related to religious freedom.  They also made some arrangements for further work and cooperation.  The exchanges between old friends ended in a cordial and warm atmosphere.

In the afternoon of Monday, February 10, 2014, Wei Jingsheng and Huang Ciping visited the U.S. State Department.  They met with officials at the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor, including Acting Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary Michael Kozak, Deputy Assistant Secretary Scott Busby, senior advisor Susan O'Sullivan, and foreign affairs officer Bob Bailey.  Both sides had an in-depth discussion of the recent deterioration of human rights in China and ways to cope with it.  They also exchanged views regarding cooperation on the human rights issues between the U.S. and Europe.
