Please Attend the Commemoration of the 25th Anniversary of the June 4 Massacre in Front of the Chinese Embassy in Washington DC Next Saturday on May 31, 2014

 

 

Next Saturday on May 31, 2014, IFCSS (the Independent Federation of Chinese Students and Scholars, USA) will host the annual commemoration of the June 4 Massacre in front of the Chinese Embassy in Washington DC, USA.  The address is: 3505 International Pl NW, Washington, DC 20008-3025, USA . 

 

This gathering will be the 25th consecutive yearly commemoration lead by the IFCSS in memory of the heroes and victims of the June 4 Massacre in the 1989 pro-democracy movement.  As usual, this event is also co-sponsored by other pro-democracy and freedom organizations. 

 

This event will feature:

1) The IFCSS will reveal its 2014 annual "Spirit of Freedom Award" winner and give its award dedication;

2) Wei Jingsheng, the leader of the Chinese democracy movement, will make his first public appearance since his major illness recently;

3) Wang Dan, the student leader in the 1989 democracy movement, will make a special visit to Washington DC to appear and speak;

4) Human Rights and democracy leaders from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Vietnam, and Tibetan communities, along with other activists, will participate and speak at the commemoration;

5) We will unveil a newly arrived sculpture of the unknown hero who stopped tanks in Beijing in 1989, titled "Courage";

6) Folk singer Xino will lead the chorus of his new song for this occasion: "Forever Remembering the June 4 Massacre";

7) The whole event will be broadcast simultaneously to the world especially China through Internet.

 

The IFCSS invites everyone in the community to participate in our commemoration to be held in the park in front of the Chinese embassy in Washington DC on the evening of May 31, 2014 from 7:30pm to 10pm.  We will express our grievances for the victims of the June 4 Massacre in 1989 and strive for the early realization of human rights and democracy in China.  The address of the Chinese Embassy in Washington DC is: 3505 International Pl NW, Washington, DC 20008, USA.  There is meter parking on the roadside of Van Ness by the embassy that is free during the weekend.  There is also a parking garage across Van Ness on the north side of the road.  The IFCSS welcomes the public to participate, and organizations that support democracy and freedom in China to co-sponsor our event as well.

2014年5月31日(下周六), 全美中国学生学者自治联合会将在美国首都华盛顿中共驻美大使馆前(地址为: 3505 International Pl NW, Washington, DC 20008-3025)连续第25年主办"六四"纪念会,以悼念在1989年民主运动中牺牲的人们。其它的人权民运组织也将支持全美学自联协办这次活动。

 

本次纪念会还包括:

颁布2014年度全美学自联"自由精神奖"(Spirit of Freedom Award),宣布获奖人并致颂辞;

民运领袖魏京生大病初愈后首次参加公开活动;

八九学生领袖王丹专程来华府出席并演讲;

来自中国大陆、港、台、藏人社区、日本、越南等亚洲各地的人权领袖参与并与其他支援中国民主自由的人们发表演讲;

1989年只身挡坦克的勇士雕像--"勇气"揭幕;

大陆民间艺术家西诺领唱新作:《难忘六四》;

通过互联网同步向全球尤其是中国大陆传送纪念会实况。
