Asian Delegation Celebrates the 80th Birthday of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in New York

On July 9th and 10th, more than ten thousands of Tibetans and Americans, as well as others, celebrated the 80th birthday (on July 6) of his holiness the Dalai Lama in New Yort City. His holiness received birthday congratulations and well wishes from the masses and confered a White Tara long-life empowerment, which was followed by Tenshug, offering of Long Life Prayer, to His Holiness, from the community

In the morning of July 10, a delegation composed of representatives of East and Southeast Asian countries and regions, led by Wei Jingsheng, chairman of Asia Democracy Alliance, came on to the center platform to express birthday greetings to his holiness the Dalai Lama in person. His holiness held Wei Jingsheng's hands for a long time and invited Mr. Wei for a separate meeting the next day.

When this scene was projected on the big screen, the audience burst into warm applause. All walks of life were blessing a united and friendly cooperation among the people of different countries and different nationalities in Asia.

The next morning, Wei Jingsheng, along with his assistant Ms. Huang Ciping, went to the hotel where the Dalai Lama was staying to meet and talk with his holiness the Dalai Lama and his chief aids.

亚洲各国代表团在纽约为达赖喇嘛祝寿(图片)

七月九日和十日，美国各界人士和藏族人民上一万人，在纽约举办了达赖喇嘛(七月六日)八十岁生日的祝寿活动。达赖喇嘛本人到会接受民众的祝贺，并讲法诵经。

七月十日上午，亚洲各国代表组成的代表团在亚洲民主联盟主席魏京生先生的率领下，前往表达祝贺。当东亚和东南亚洲各国朋友在魏先生率领下，登上主席台当面表达祝贺的时候，达赖喇嘛长时间握住魏先生的手，并邀请魏先生在第二天单独会谈。

这个镜头在大屏幕上展现时，全场响起热烈的掌声。各界民众为亚洲各国、各民族间的团结友好合作而祝福。

第二天上午，魏先生和他的助手黄慈萍女士，前往达赖喇嘛下榻的宾馆，与达赖喇嘛和他的主要助手进行了会谈。
