Wei Jingsheng: Western Audiences Connect With the Chinese Culture Through Shen Yun Performing Art

(NTDTV February 18, 2016) On the evening of February 16, Wei Jingsheng, the well-known human rights activist, watched the performance by the New York Company of the Shen Yun Performing Arts. Wei Jingsheng has seen the performance repeatedly. He said the program is getting more and more attractive, as well as making the Western audience connect with the Chinese culture more and more.

Human rights activist Wei Jingsheng said: "You see now larger and larger audiences with the majority being non-Chinese which indicates that the population here has a growing acceptance of our traditional Chinese culture, even though it is different from theirs, but also very beautiful. They are increasingly accepting this, which is very good!"

Huang Ciping, who also has often seen the Shen Yun performance said that the novel expression of the Shen Yun performance impressed the audience.

Huang Ciping, the Executive Director of the Wei Jingsheng Foundation said: "I felt fortunate to see the show. I think it is very good, because they are new programs. There are several programs that made me feel fantastic and very innovative. Take for example, at the start of 'Fairies Walking over the Ripples' everyone wowed. I found it was very interesting."

Huang Ciping thinks that the Shen Yun performance can really promote a harmonious relationship between the multi-ethnic groups, as well as to encourage people to reflect on the history of modern China.

She said: "The programs of the Shen Yun performance, especially that one of the Tibetans, can really promote harmony between peoples of different nationalities. When you are watching these programs, you sense how large China is, how people of all ethnic nationalities can live very harmoniously. But the Chinese Communist Party has carried out repression against all peoples, every nationality. In the program, we also have seen the suppression of Falun Gong practitioners by the Communist regime. There was also a dance performance that was especially about the 'Cultural Revolution'. This year happens to be the fiftieth anniversary of the Cultural Revolution. Thus this is a topic for everyone to review, and to ponder about it. So, I think this is a very good program."

魏京生：神韵让西方观众认同中华文化

【新唐人2016年02月18日讯】2月16日晚，知名人权活动家魏京生在美国首都华盛顿观看了美国神韵艺术团的演出。魏京生曾多次看过神韵，他表示，神韵的节目越来越好看，也增进了西方观众对中华文化的认同。

人权活动家魏京生：〝你看现在观众越来越多，而且我看老外占多数，就是说这边的观众越来越接受咱们中国传统文化的模式。跟他们不一样的，但是也很优美，他们越来越接受。非常好！〞

多次看过神韵演出的黄慈平表示，神韵新颖的表现手法让观众印象深刻。

魏京生基金会执行主任黄慈平：〝很荣幸能看到这场演出，觉得非常好，因为又是全新的节目。然后呢，有几个节目，我觉得很别出心裁，很新颖。比方说，'凌波仙子'出来的时候，大家都'唔'一声，所以我觉得很有意思。〞

黄慈平认为，神韵演出能够真正推动多民族间的融洽关系，也能促使人们反思近代中国的历史。

魏京生基金会执行主任黄慈平：〝神韵的这些节目，尤其是像藏族的节目，能够真正地推动民族之间的和谐。看这些舞蹈的时候，你感觉就是说，这个中国非常大，有各族的人民在那里，也都生活得很和睦。可是共产党，对各族人民都进行镇压，其中我们也看到了，共产党对法轮功学员的镇压。其中还有一个舞蹈，是专门表现'文革'的，今年刚好是文革五十周年，因此这是一个让大家回顾、也让大家深思的题目。所以，我觉得这是一个非常好的节目。〞
