On
March 31 and April 1, 2016, the 2016 Nuclear Security Summit will be held in
the Washington Convention Center in Washington DC, USA, attended by country
leaders including Chinese president Xi Jinping. The Overseas Chinese Democracy Coalition, joined by other
Chinese democratic activists and Tibetan human rights activists, will hold a
two-day rally to protest the human rights abuses in China and Tibet, as well as
demand the Chinese government to guarantee nuclear safety and stop the nuclear
weapon proliferation it has been doing in the past.
In
particular, from 2pm to 4pm on Thursday, March 31, the Overseas Chinese
Democracy Coalition and other activists and organizations will hold a press
conference on the subject to highlight the purpose of the rally. The press conference will feature WEI
Jingsheng, the chairman of the Coalition, and leaders of the other organizations. It will also feature speeches by WANG
Juntao and HUANG Ciping, both of whom have worked in the nuclear industry in
China. In addition to Chinese
responsibility for nuclear weapon proliferation in Asia, they will express
concerns about the nuclear safety issues in China, especially as it builds nuclear
power stations in densely populated areas despite its poor safety
measures.

are welcome to attend the press conference, as well as the rallies that will be
held during the two days, just outside of the Washington Convention Center.
