Overseas
Chinese Democracy Coalition Statement on the Recent Words of Donald Trump
In
the recent Republican Presidential Candidate debate in Miami, Florida,
candidate Donald Trump openly called the 1989 democracy movement in Beijing's
Tiananmen Square a "riot".
He said that the 1989 suppression and massacre of the students and
civilians in Beijing was "a strong, powerful government that reacted with
strength then they kept down the riot." Over the recent years, even the Chinese Communist regime has
no longer used this word of "riot", instead using "an
incident" to describe that movement.
This
attitude of Donald Trump on this issue is not what the majority of Chinese
people could call acceptable; nor could any people with conscience in the
world. It is an insult to the
people who are against the tyranny of the Chinese Communist Party.
We
asked Mr. Trump to apologize for his insult of the Chinese people in his
erroneous remarks. We of the
Chinese democracy movement would never want to interfere with the American
people's choice of their leaders.
Yet, just like the American people, we do not want to be insulted by the
leaders of other countries.

中国民主运动海外联席会议关于美国总统参选人唐纳德·川普言论的声明
美国总统参选人唐纳德·川普,在最近迈阿密的总统竞选辩论中,公然说1989年的北京天安门民主运动是“骚乱”。他说中共对学生和市民的镇压和屠杀是很好地平息了“骚乱”。多年来，连中国共产党也不再使用骚乱这个说法，只说这场运动是一个事件。
川普的这种态度，是大多数中国人民所不能接受的，也是世界各国有良心的人们所不能接受的，是对反抗中国共产党暴政的人们的侮辱。
我们要求川普先生就他的错误言论向受到了侮辱的中国人民道歉。我们中国民主运动，从不干涉美国人民选择他们的领袖。但我们像美国人民一样，不希望受到别国领袖的侮辱。
