On the 27th Anniversary of the June 4th Massacre, the Exhibition of the State Terrorist Atrocities Conducted by the Chinese Communist Regime and Candles Lit in Front of the Chinese Embassy

-- Boxun News

Beijing Time June 6, 2016

The memorial service observing the 27 anniversary of the June 4th Massacre started at 6pm on June 4, 2016 in front of the Chinese Embassy in Washington DC.  The "Goddess of Democracy" statue was set up, along with a full set of the Exhibition of the State Terrorist Atrocities Conducted by the Chinese Communist Regime on both display panels and trailer in the small garden in front of the embassy.

The candlelight vigil hosted by the Independent Federation of the Chinese Students and Scholars (USA) and cosponsored by the Wei Jingsheng Foundation, Greater Washington Network for Democracy in China (GWNDC), Oversea Chinese Democracy Coalition, Youth Council of China Democracy Party, FOHKC_DC (Federation of Overseas Hong Kong Chinese, DC), and Rallying for Democracy, started with a moment of silence for the victims of the June 4th Massacre.  Nearly one hundred dissidents from around the world gathered here to commemorate the 1989 democracy movement in China.  Here it is illuminated with candlelight.

During the candlelight vigil, it was extraordinarily quiet both inside and outside the Chinese Embassy in Washington, DC.  There were American police patrolling back and forth.  Although flashing lights, they did not use sirens, so could be considered as quiet.  The Embassy was mostly black without too much lights.  The whole event went on without interference.  The front of the Embassy grounds, including parking spaces were occupied by the commemoration.  Today, 27 years after the Massacre, at least for this half of the night this garden in front of the Chinese Embassy in Washington DC was temporarily occupied by these who come to commemorate.

IFCSS alternate council member Chen Chuangchuang made the opening statement: "I am absolutely convinced that we do not need to wait another 27 years to get into the Embassy across from us, ??on behalf of the Chinese government to make an official memorial to these students and citizens who sacrificed their lives for freedom and democracy in China.  They were martyrs."
