participate in a series of June 4 commemorative activities. The following is a related report by

Jingsheng: People come to the United States not just to have better job
opportunities and living environment, but also because of the freedom and
democracy here. Here, you can live
according to your own wishes, rather than as inside China where one is always
worried about losing your freedom because of what you said, and being
persecuted under "maintaining stability" due to your defense of your
own rights and interests.
Today,
although China's total economic output has ranked second in the world, the
living standards of the ordinary Chinese are far from those of ordinary
Americans, even not as good as the African people who receive huge Chinese
taxpayer money from the Chinese Communist regime. The Chinese government officials are not elected. They do not need to be responsible to
the Chinese people. They only
arrogantly and brutally oppress the Chinese people.
28
years ago, young college students and ordinary citizens in China took to the
streets to strive for freedom and democracy. But the Communist regime used machine guns and tanks to
brutally suppress them. Thousands
of students and citizens thus paid their lives for it. Today, if the Chinese people want to
live their own happy life, we must be like the students and citizens 28 years
ago, to take to the streets again, to overthrow the Communist tyranny, to
strive for our own freedom and democracy!

魏京生：大家不仅为了有更好的工作机会和生活环境来到美国，更因为向往这里的自由和民主，可以按照自己的想法生活，而不用像在国内那样提心吊胆的生活，因为说了一句话就会失去自由，因为维护自己的权益就会被维稳、会受迫害。
今天，虽然中国的经济总量已经排名世界第二，但中国普通老百姓的生活水平远远没有美国普通老百姓的生活好，甚至都没有中共用巨额纳税人的财富去捐助的非洲国家人民的生活好。中国的政府官员不是民选的，他们不需要向老百姓负责任，只会蛮横、残暴地欺压百姓。
28年前，年轻的大学生和普通市民为了争取自由和民主走上街头，却被中共用机枪和坦克残酷地镇压了，成千上万的学生和市民因此付出生命的代价。今天，中国人要想过上属于自己的幸福生活，就必须像28年前的学生和市民一样，再次走上街头，推翻中共暴政，争取真正属于自己的自由民主！
