US Congressman Smith Awarded With "Human Rights and Freedom Defender Prize" of the Wei Jingsheng Foundation

On July 27, 2017, the third "Human Rights Without Borders Exhibition" and the third "Human Rights and Freedom Defender Prize" award ceremony was held in the Rayburn House Office Building of the United States House of Representatives.

This program broadcast selections of this award ceremony recorded live.

Ms. Huang Ciping, the executive director of the Wei Jingsheng Foundation, announces: The United States Republican Representative Chris Smith was awarded the third "Human Rights and Freedom Defender Prize" of the Wei Jingsheng Foundation.

Exerpts from US representative Chris Smith's speech accepting this award followed the announcement.

In addition were excerpts of the speech by Wei Jingsheng, president of the Wei Jingsheng Foundation, and selections of the speech by Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, who was the previous awardee and the former Speaker of the House of Representatives.
