Prayers for Dr. Wang Bingzhang in Prison and His New Book Publishing Ceremony Held in Front of the Newly Opened Bible Museum in Washington DC

 

 

On Friday, November 17, 2017, the Bible Museum was officially opened in Washington DC, the capital of the United States.  Meantime, Prayers for Dr. WANG Bingzhang now in prison, and his new book launching ceremony were also held in front of the Bible Museum.  Dr. Wang Bingzhang was the earliest leader of overseas Chinese democratic movement.  He was arrested 15 years ago and sentenced to life imprisonment by the Communist China and is still locked in the Shaoguan Jail in Guangdong Province.

 

This solidarity campaign was sponsored by the Wei Jingsheng Foundation, the Chinese Democratic Party, Free China Association, and the New School for Democracy.  It was organized by the former economics professor of the Beijing University, Mr. XIA Yeliang.

 

In the cold wind of the early morning, Ms. HUANG Ciping, Executive Director of the Wei Jingsheng Foundation, announced the start of the ceremony.  Wang Bingzhang family representative and his elder sister, Ms. Wang Jinhuan from Canada, gave an introduction speech about him and the book.  Then a letter from Wang Bingzhang in prison was read to the participants.  Ms. WU Qian, a Christian from California, led everyone in prayer for Wang Bingzhang.

 

Afterwards, speeches were made by:

Mr. WEI Jingsheng, Chairman of the Overseas Chinese Democracy Coalition;

Mr. YAN Jiaqi, the first director of the Institute of Political Science of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the first chairman of the "Chinese Democratic Front" founded in Paris in 1989;

Dr. WANG Dan, student leader of the 1989 democracy movement in China;

Prof. XIA Yeliang, former professor of economics at Peking University.

 

Then Huang Ciping read a letter from Omar Alghabra, Canadian Parliamentary Secretary to the Minster Freeland of the Foreign Affairs to Wang Bingzhang's family;

Mr. HU Ping's written speech was delivered;

Ms. ZHANG Jing read out the speech of Dr. ZHONG Jinjiang, current Chairman of the Democratic Alliance;

Mr. CHEN Weiming, a sculptor, gave a passionate speech on behalf of people from New Zealand;

Mr. HAN Wu from New York spoke;

Ms. JIN Xiuhong from Seattle spoke;

Dr. WANG Juntao, Chairman of National Committee of the Democratic Party of China, made a final speech and conclusion.

王炳章狱中祈祷与新书发布仪式在华盛顿新开放的圣经博物馆前举行

 

 

2017年11月17 日(周五),圣经博物馆在美国首都华盛顿正式开放。与此同时,王炳章狱中祈祷与新书发布仪式也在圣经博物馆前举行。王炳章博士是最早的中国海外民运领袖。他于15年前被诱捕并被中共判处无期徒刑,至今还被关押在广东韶关狱中。

 

该声援活动由魏京生基金会、中国民主党、华夏自由联盟、及华人民主书院等组织举办。原北京大学经济学教授夏业良先生操办。

 

当天上午,寒风之中,魏京生基金会执行主任黄慈萍女士宣布仪式开始。王炳章家属代表,来自加拿大的,王炳章的姐姐王金环女士介绍了王炳章的近况及新书。之后宣读了王炳章来自狱中的相关家书。来自加州的基督徒吴倩女士带领大家为王炳章祈祷。

 

之后讲话的有:

中国民主运动海外联席会议主席魏京生先生;

中国社会科学院政治学研究所首任所长、及1989年在巴黎成立的"民主中国阵线"首任主席严家祺先生;

八九学运领袖王丹博士;

原北京大学的夏业良教授。

胡平先生发表了书面发言;

张菁女士宣读现任民联主席钟锦江的书面发言;

中国民主党全委会主席王军涛博士做了最后的演讲与结语。
