A Look at the Rise of Great Powers

-- Wei Jingsheng

In recent years, many scholars have talked about the rise of great powers, or the return of the Cultural Revolution in China.  However, few people have linked them together.  In fact, of the rise of the four great powers in the past 100+ years, there were three of them linked with a cultural revolution: Nazi Germany, the Cultural Revolution in China itself, and now Xi Jinping's "revolution".  Only one out of four the rising powers was successful, which was the rise of the United States.  Today we will take a look at the similarities and differences of these four powers in order to learn historical experience and lessons.

Both Adolf Hitler and Mao Zedong had learned this from the Confucius: Scarcity is not a concern, but inequality is.  So both received the support of most people, to the degree of fanatical.  The difference between Hitler and Mao is that Hitler relied on the market economy of Capitalism, while Mao believed the so-called socialist economy of serfdom.  As a result, Adolf Hitler got the power to fight over the world, while Mao Zedong only had the ability to yell his slogans all over the world.

Why didn't Mao Zedong have the strength of Adolf Hitler?  Because serfdom is too backward.  Hitler was able to quickly raise the living standard for most Germans, while Mao Zedong quickly lowered the living standard of the Chinese.  In a short span of ten years, Mao produced the catastrophe of starvation of one-tenth of the Chinese population.  Thus, thoughts of resistance began to brew among the Chinese.  Afterwards, the 1978 and 1989 democratic movements in China gradually broke out and the authoritarian dictatorship no longer was the object of worship.

Adolf Hitler understood the one truth that is it would not be sufficient to maintain an authoritarian regime solely relying on repression and policies to fool people.  In order to gain support, he tried letting the majority of Germans receive a benefit.  Deng Xiaoping was a good student of Hitler.  Deng's "reform and opening up" for economic development were steps following Hitler.  Deng hoped that he could maintain an autocratic, one-party dictatorial politic by improving people's living standards, just like Hitler.

Also just like Hitler, Deng's policy was supported by the capitalists all over the world.  Because these capitalists knew that without the suppression of the Communist regime, there would be no surplus value and excess profit according to the theory of Karl Marx.  Their anxious enthusiasm in support of Deng Xiaoping even surpassed Deng himself.  They even would use the national interests of the United States to help the Chinese Communist regime in order to share the excess profits derived from exploitation.

China's economy has developed rapidly on the basis of exploiting the peoples of China and the United States.  The gaps between the rich and the poor in both China and the United States are rapidly expanding.  The Chinese Communist Party has rapidly risen with the support of capitalists all over the world.  As a result, Xi Jinping, the fourth rising ambitionist, was born.  He feels that he has passed the qualifications of Deng Xiaoping and Mao Zedong.  He thinks that he has successfully established a super power that unified the world and has become "the Saint that only appears once in a millennium" as bragged by the Communist newspaper in China.

What is the difference between Xi Jinping, in comparison to Hitler and Mao?  The first is that there is no concern of scarcity but concern of inequality.  Although Hitler had prosperity while Mao Zedong made poverty, both of them implemented socialism.  Although their socialism was deformed, it indeed reduced the gap between the rich and the poor, and won the support and worship of the "low-end population".  This is the foundation for the rise of their dictatorial autocracy, although they were not secure and failed shortly after, they were at least half successful.

Xi Jinping has no need of concern for scarcity, but the inequality has been really severe.  He got the misconception that where there is money, he could do anything.  So probably even before he could rise he will see karma come early, which is "the retribution in this life" as the Chinese say.  In order to change the status quo of inadequacy, Xi started the second land reform, as well as turning private ownership into public partnership, while like Hitler and Mao he wants to insure the Communist Party leads everything.  In this era of the Internet, this is not just a stupid policy; it plays like a rhythm of seeking death.

The only example that has emerged successfully in the past more than one hundred years is the United States.  The rise of Europe and Japan that followed are also a result of the American model.  This model is to govern society according to law, under the protection of political democracy while economically using socialism to regulate the most effective market economy.  The model ensures the rapid development of the economy, meanwhile rapidly raising people's living standards.  This is the experience learned from the rapid rise of the United States in the last century.  It is the best example for the world to learn.

Although the United States has been implicated by China in recent decades and has started to deviate from this successful model, China has not yet learned the experience of others.  This is the reason why the Chinese people must eradicate the rise of Xi Jinping and start from new.
