Symposium of China Research Institute
The fate of
the candidate of the Supreme Court Judge has stirred up American politics. If the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh is
confirmed, the balance of the US Supreme Court may lean toward the Republican
Party and the conservatives, with a series issues including the legalization of
abortions facing a new round of judgment in the Supreme Court.
At the hearing
of the US Senate Judiciary Committee on September 27th, President Trump's
nominated candidate for the Supreme Court Justice, Brett Kavanaugh, was accused
of sexual assault 36 years ago. The
accuser is a female California psychology professor, Christine Ford.
This hearing
has magnified the female element.
Feminists use the hearings to advance the anti-discrimination against
women, such as the MeToo campaign against sexual harassment, while
conservatives consider this to be a juggling and an abuse of the nomination
confirmation process.
The Mingjing
Live, together with the Mingjing TV and its Global Live Station, will start a
direct broadcast at 10:00 am on Friday, October 5, 2018, US Eastern Time, of
its 63rd symposium of the China Research Institute on the whole course of
"The Sexual Assault Hearing: The Milestone of the MeToo Movement or the
Public Opinion Assassination of Brett Kavanaugh."
The invited
guests participating in the discussion included Vicky FENG, CEO and President
of LifeScience Plus, HUANG Ciping, Executive Director of the Wei Jingsheng
Foundation, Shan Lin, Chairman of the Asian American Democratic Club, and ZHU
Leping, a lawyer and a publisher. The
symposium will be hosted by Chen Xiaoping, host of Mingjing Live.
The main
topics discussed at this symposium will be:
1.How do you
evaluate the performance of the two protagonists at the hearing - Brett
Kavanaugh and Christine Blasey Ford?
2. The topic
of MeToo has seized the opportunity to become a national topic. Is it beneficial to the protection of
women or not? Will this hearing
allow women's rights topics to be used by party politics? If Kavanaugh gets confirmed, is this
going to be a major setback for the MeToo movement?
3. Kavanaugh
said that the allegations have become a national shame. Some people criticize this as a juggling
and media assassination by presumption of guilt. What do you think?
4. Will this
incident exacerbate the splitting of American society?
