The 6th Oscar Chinese Human Rights Awards Ceremony Held in Hollywood, CA

On February 24th, the 91st "Oscar Academy Awards" ceremony was held at the Hollywood Dolby Theatre. On Hollywood Boulevard outside the Dolby Theatre, the 6th "Oscar Chinese Human Rights Awards" ceremony hosted by the Los Angeles China Democracy Platform was also held on the same day.

More than 100 people attended the 6th "Oscar Chinese Human Rights Awards" ceremony; they came from all over the United States, China, Canada, Japan and other countries.

This year's winners are Dong Yaoqiong, Wang Quanzhang, Guo Quan, Lee Ming-che and Chinese petitioners.

Chen Weiming, a sculptor and the founder of China Democracy Platform, was interviewed by reporters on the spot and said: "The 'Oscar Chinese Human Rights Award' has entered its sixth year. Not only has it been responded well by the Chinese people who love freedom and democracy, but also friends from all over the world come to attend our event. The brightness of the stars of the Chinese democracy movement are not lower than these stars in the show business."

Wang Juntao, chairman of the Chinese Democratic Party, and Wei Jingsheng, chairman of the Overseas Chinese Democracy Coalition, came from New York and Washington DC to attend the awards ceremony.

Wang Juntao said that in recent years, he has participated in the "Oscar Chinese Human Rights Awards" ceremony every year, and every time he was very excited. He said: "At today's awards ceremony, we gave awards to a batch of warriors who fight to bring light to a China that is still in darkness. In fact, in a sense, we are not only giving them awards, but we are also wanting to exert greater influence of their heroic actions in the society. The Oscar Human Rights Award is now getting more and more attention and support from the people."

Wei Jingsheng said that the "Oscar Chinese Human Rights Awards" ceremony that is held every year on Hollywood Boulevard is a declaration to people. "In the past years, Americans were busy doing business with the Communist regime. They put human rights issues at a very low position, and even had some excuses to say that the Chinese people themselves are not working hard toward democracy. These activities are equivalent to telling Americans that we Chinese have not stopped fighting for freedom, democracy and human rights."

Fang Zheng, president of the Chinese Democracy Education Foundation, also has come every year from San Francisco to attend the "Oscar Chinese Human Rights Awards" ceremony. The annual "Oscar Chinese Human Rights Award" hosted by Chen Weiming and the "Outstanding Democrats of China" hosted by Fang Zheng have become a selected activity with wide influence at home and abroad. Fang Zheng praised Chen Weiming: "Artists always have some unexpected creations. From the Liberty Sculpture Park to the Oscar Human Rights Award on Hollywood Boulevard, is the artistic creation of Mr. Chen Weiming. We admire him very much and support him very much."

All the awardees were unable to come to accept the awards because they were detained in Chinese prisons or mental hospitals, or blocked by the Chinese authorities. So these awards were received by friends. Zheng Yun from the San Francisco Bay Area, accepted the award on behalf of Dong Yaoqiong, the young woman who was put in the mental hospital by the Communist regime after she splashed ink on the portrait of Xi Jinping. She said: "This Hunan girl woke up a lot of people who were shocked by her brave actions. She broke a worship. She bravely expressed her own voice. After Dong Yaoqiong splashed ink, we went to the Chinese Consulate on July 9 and took our action on Xi Jinping’s portrait by splashing ink and throwing eggs on it. We the women have stood up, so what are you men waiting for?"

Followed the end of the 6th "Oscar Chinese Human Rights Awards" ceremony, was the start of the Oscars – the 91st Academy Awards ceremony. The stars of the Chinese democracy movement and the Hollywood movie stars shine together and become a beautiful landscape on the Hollywood Boulevard.

2月24日，第91届"奥斯卡金像奖"颁奖典礼在好莱坞杜比戏院里举行。杜比戏院外面的星光大道上，由洛杉矶中国民主平台举办的第6届"奥斯卡中国自由人权奖"颁奖典礼，也在同一天隆重举行。

一百多人出席了第6届"奥斯卡中国自由人权奖"颁奖典礼，他们来自美国各地，和中国、加拿大、日本等国家。

今年的获奖者为董瑶琼、王全璋、郭泉、李明哲和中国访民群体。

"中国民主平台"创建人、雕塑家陈维明在现场接受记者电话采访，说道："'奥斯卡中国自由人权奖'进入第六个年头了，不仅在爱好自由民主的华人中得到回应，而且各国朋友也来参加我们的活动。中国民主运动的明星们，他们闪烁的光亮不会低于演艺界的明星。"

中国民主党主席王军涛和中国民主运动海外联席会议主席魏京生，分别从纽约和首都华盛顿前来参加颁奖典礼。

王军涛表示，近几年，他每年来参加"奥斯卡中国自由人权奖"颁奖典礼，每次都令他激动不已，他说："在今天的颁奖典礼上，我们又给一批在中国的黑暗中为了光明而奋斗的勇士颁奖。其实在某种意义上不仅是我们在给他们颁奖，我们是为了他们的英雄行动能够在社会发挥更大的影响力。奥斯卡自由人权奖现在得到越来越多人的关注和支持。"

魏京生表示，"奥斯卡中国自由人权奖"颁奖典礼每年在星光大道举行，是在向人们做一种宣示，他说："前些年，美国人光顾着跟共产党做生意了，他们把人权问题放到很低的位置，而且还找出一些理由来，说中国人自己不努力。这些活动等于告诉美国人，我们中国人没有停止争取自由民主和人权的斗争。"

"中国民主教育基金会"会长方政，也是每年从旧金山前来参加"奥斯卡中国自由人权奖"颁奖典礼。方政主持的每年评选"中国杰出民主人士"和陈维明主持的每年评选"奥斯卡中国自由人权奖"，已成为在海内外具有广泛影响的评选活动。方政称赞陈维明说："艺术家总是有一些让人想不到的创意。从雕塑公园到星光大道奥斯卡人权奖，都是陈维明先生的艺术家创意。我们非常佩服他，也非常支持他。"

所有的获奖者，都被关在中国的监狱中或精神病院中，或遭中共当局阻挠，不能前来接受颁奖，而由友人代领。来自旧金山湾区的郑云，代表被中共关进精神病院的向习近平像泼墨的女青年董瑶琼领奖，她说："这个湖南妹子惊天一泼，震醒了很多人，她打碎了一个崇拜，她勇敢的表现了自己的心声。在董瑶琼泼墨以后，我们709那一天到中领馆门口，对习近平的画像也作出了我们的行动，泼墨、扔鸡蛋。我们这些女性已经站出来了，你们这些男人还等什么呢？"

第6届"奥斯卡中国自由人权奖"颁奖典礼结束，紧接着就是第91届"奥斯卡金像奖"颁奖典礼开始。中国民主运动的明星与好莱坞影星互相辉映，成为这一天星光大道上的一道亮丽的风景线。
