The death of a prominent Chinese airline passenger occupies the Bavarian judiciary. Landshut, the public prosecutor responsible for Munich Airport, has had the body of former dissident Zhang Jian autopsied. Zhang died in a hospital in Freising in mid-April after the scheduled flight from Oman to Paris had to be diverted to Munich because of his poor health. Since Zhang played a leading role in the Democratic Movement in Tiananmen Square in Beijing in 1989, Chinese expatriates suspected that the 48-year-old dissident, who had lived in France for years, had been poisoned. Huang Ciping, the director of the Wei Jingsheng Foundation in Washington, traveled to Bavaria specifically for a thorough autopsy. She points to other deaths of Chinese dissidents who had previously contracted liver disease. This is disturbing, according to Huang Ciping's assessment.

Zhang also had a liver abscess as the investigation revealed in the order of the prosecutor Landshut. However, the Institute for Legal Medicine in Munich determined as the cause of death that the dissident had died of multiple organ failure as a result of blood poisoning. The spokesman for the district attorney's office Landshut emphasized that the investigators had so far "no evidence of a criminal offense ". However, the analysis of samples taken during the post-mortem examination is still pending; for example, the laboratory is looking for traces of certain substances or indications of radioactivity.

Der Tod eines prominenten chinesischen Flugpassagiers beschaftigt die bayerische Justiz. Die fur den Munchner Flughafen zustandige Staatsamwaltschaft Landshut hat den Leichnam des ehemaligen Dissidenten Zhang Jian obduzieren lassen. Zhang starb Mittle April in einem Krankenhaus in Freising, nachdem der Linienflug, mit dem er von Oman nach Paris reiste, wegen seines schlechten Gesundheitszustands nach Munchen umgeleitet werden musste. Da Zhang 1989 bei der Democratiebewegung auf dem Platz des Himmlischen Friedens in Peking eine fuhrende Rolle gespielt hatte, ausserten chinesische Exllanten den Verdacht, der seit Jahren in Frankreich lebende 48 jahrige Dissident Konnte vergiftel worden sein. Huang Ciping, die Direktorin der Wei Jingsheng Foundation in Washington, reiste eigens nach Bayern, um sich fur eine grundliche Obduktion einzusetzen.

Sie verweist auf weitere Todesfalle von chinesischen Dissidenten, die zuvor an der Leber erkrankt waren >Das ist beunruhigend<, so die Einschatzung von Huang Ciping. Auch Zhang hatte einen Leberabszess, ergab die Untersuchung im Aufrag der Staatsanwaltschaft Landshut. Allerdings ermittelte das Institut fur Rechtsmedizin in Munchen als Todesursache, dass der Dissident an Multiorganversagen infolge einer Blutvergiftung verstorben sei. Der Sprecher der Staatsanwaltschaft Landshut betonte, dass den Ermittlern bisher >keine Hinweise auf eine Straftat< vorlagen.Es habe sich um >ein Todesermittlung von ber der Obduktion entnommenen Proben steht allerdings noch aus. Im Labor wird beispielsweise nach Spuren von bestimmten Substanzen oder nach Hinweisen auf Radioaktivitat gesucht.
