Wei Jingsheng's Activities in Prague, Czech Republic

On the evening of Tuesday, October 15th, 2019, Wei Jingsheng and Huang Ciping, the Executive Director of the Wei Jingsheng Foundation, gathered together for dinner with Czech political and academic elites in Prague, Czech Republic, as well as to discuss issues of democratization in China and world democratization over all.  There was also a British scholar who participated in the discussion.  The atmosphere was warm and casual, without a sense of restraint.

On the morning of the 16th, Wei Jingsheng and Huang Ciping gave a lecture to students and teachers at the invitation of the head of the Department of East Asian Studies at Charles University.  The theme was Democracy in China and the Hong Kong Democratic Movement.  The teachers and students have a profound understanding of the Communist system and have placed great hopes on the future of the Hong Kong struggle.

Charles University, which is also known as Charles University in Prague and historically the University of Prague, is the first university in Germany, when the capital of Bohemia and the Holy Roman Empire was in Prague.  It is the oldest university in the Czech Republic and even in Central Europe.  It is also the largest university in the Czech Republic, with many famous scholars and scientists born out of here.  Its Asia Studies especially its Department of Sinology enjoys a high reputation in the international academic community.
