On
November 1, 2019, Mr. WEI Jingsheng, Chairman of the Overseas Chinese Democracy
Coalition, participated in the "China Live" program hosted by Radio
Free Asia's He Ping on the topics: Public Ownership and Power Comes From Guns;
What Did the Fourth Plenary Session of the 19th CCP Congress Do? And What Did It Not Say? Guests who also participated in the
Interview were Mr. Xia Yeliang, a libertarian scholar; and Mr. Wang Juntao,
co-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese Democratic Party. The following is an introduction of the
program by Radio Free Asia.
This
week, the Fourth Plenary Session of the 19th CCP Central Committee was held
behind closed doors and then mysteriously ended. Unexpectedly, the Plenary Bulletin did not mention Xi
Jinping's successor that was a hot topic discussed in the outside world. However, in response to Hong Kong's
five-month "Against Extradition to China" protests, it is going to
establish a so-called "National Security Legal System and Implementation
Mechanism". At a time of the
escalation of police violence in Hong Kong, what the decisions did the CCP 4th
plenary session suggest? In
addition, facing economic downturn and inflation, the communiqué of the 4th
plenary highlights the argument of "holding onto the state
ownership," which reminds people of an era a long time ago. What is behind the so-called
"promoting the modernization of the national governance system and
governance capacity" of the Xi Jinping's Communist Party's command of
Guns, as well as its meaning to the Chinese society? This program is to explore these topics.
