Thoughts on Chinese Memorial Day

-- Wei Jingsheng

The Chinese Memorial Day (this weekend on April 5) is a day when Chinese people are in memorial of their deceased loved ones and visit their graves.  At this time, people will grieve and miss their loved ones who have passed away.  My father, my mother and my younger brother have passed away one after another.  I miss the days I spent with them, including the joy, quarrels and all kinds of unforgettable memories.  The people who died in this Wuhan Pneumonia Epidemic (due to the COVID-19 coronavirus) have tens of thousands of relatives.  These relatives should have the same mood and nostalgia as me, with more pain and grievances than me.

Why would I say so?  That is because these deaths are not what they seem on the surface, as it was just a natural cause, due to aging or an irresistible disease.  This may have been the case in ancient times, when there was no knowledge about infectious disease prevention and no effective means of epidemic prevention.  The relatives of the dead people at that time had no choice but to blame God for not taking care of their relatives.  However, large-scale plagues in the past several hundred years have prompted mankind to quickly develop a set of more effective methods.  The most important thing is to find outbreaks, and then to take corresponding preventive measures to narrow and control infectious diseases to a relatively small scale.

But what did the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) do?  When the virus had shown an outbreak trend, while it notified the United States and other Western countries, it concealed the truth from the Chinese, and even asked the inspection agencies to destroy the evidence and conceal the epidemic; at the same time, it also made propoganda that it was not an infectious disease and would not be transmitted from person to person.  What was the CCP doing?  This is murder.  The use of disease to kill people is an old tradition of the CCP.  Initially, it was only aimed at political enemies, but Xi Jinping expanded it against ordinary people across the country.

These experts and scholars at home and abroad who have benefited from the CCP should stop their sophistry of arguing of insufficient evidence.  If human beings have to wait until the evidence is sufficient to make judgments, then they are even not as good as the rabbits.  If the predictive power of human beings is so degraded to be less than that of rabbits, then it is really hard for me to make more comments.  The prevention of infectious diseases depends on the ability to predict, otherwise how can it be called prevention?

Are Chinese doctors and scholars all wasted garbages?  No.  Many doctors and scholars, like Dr. Li Wenliang, made early judgments and predictions of the epidemic and warned everyone responsibly.  But they were attacked and suppressed, and they also had to bow their heads to plead guilty, to warn others to shut up in the way of "killing the chickens to warn the monkeys".  The result was just as many experts had estimated: if the early warning was given 3 weeks earlier in China, then the number of infected people can be reduced by more than 90%.  Shouldn't the relatives of these more than 90% of the victims who died hold these CCP officials for the criminal responsibility of concealing and deceiving?

Chinese people and academic officials are indeed as terrified as rabbits due to Xi Jinping's high-pressure policy.  Not only has no one dared to come forward to hold these guilty officials accountable, but also they were forced to shout "long live" or even assist with lies.  Xi Jinping's judgment is correct: that indeed no one in China is a standing man with courage.  But is it really true?  It seems that there are still many people and the media making loud outcries.  The media that dared to tell the truth during the epidemic is under siege by the CCP and the Internet police.  Mr. Ren Zhiqiang, who directly attributed the blame to CCP Secretary-General Xi Jinping, has also been missing for a long time and is said to have been detained and interrogated with the CCP special regulations.  In the near future, there will be more people in the media who will be scolded as traitors because they tell the truth.

This action shows that a new round of policy to cover up the truth and deceive people is coming onto the stage in China.  What will happen next?  There are foolish people who believed the CCP 's lies and have started to unblock themselves and travel and go to parties.  Yet the hidden virus carriers are spreading the virus unconsciously.  Scholars at home and abroad have warned that a new round of outbreaks in China is just around the corner.  Who should we believe?  People should seriously consider this issue.  For a serious disaster, it is better to believe it than to ignore.  It is better to hide like rabbits when they hear the wind is blowing and the grass is moving, rather than believe in lies and follow the likes like a fool.
