News WeeklyChina Perspective: Decrypt the Secret of Special "404"

-- An Exclusive Interview of Huang Ciping, an engineering consultant and former nuclear physics expert in China

[New Tang Dynasty News, April 25, 2021, Beijing time] Next, we will connect with Yan Xi, the host of "China Perspective", to decipher the secret of a special product of the Chinese Communist regime: "404".

When you try to open a webpage that no longer exists, a 404 error message will appear on the screen.  But this 404 code not only means that the page cannot be found, it also represents a mysterious city in China.  What kind of city?  Let’s find out today.

This mysterious city in China is a city that can't be found, and is even without a GPS location marked, no telephone area code, or express delivery address.  Even the locals who lived there can't tell their specific address.  It used to be a top secret site, but is now basically abandoned.

This is the 404 plant of the China National Nuclear Corporation which is located in Gansu Province.  The city is very small with about 4 square kilometers, and the people activity area does not exceed 2 square kilometers.

Although all contact with the outside world has been cut off, there are public security bureaus, land bureaus, social security bureaus, television station and newspaper, and all the administrative agencies you want in this 404 city.  Moreover, China’s first military nuclear reactor was built here.  Underground is a nuclear test base.  Of course, Mao Zedong's statue is indispensable in this city as well.

Expert interview: "This 404 city also did nuclear tests, including underground nuclear tests.  It had nuclear accidents.  In addition, there are some places where it had secret engineering projects."

Since 1958, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has transferred the country's best workers, model workers, doctors from the best hospitals and other outstanding professionals from all walks of life to gather here.  Not only it did have nuclear experts, but also the best craftsmen from all over China, including the best chefs in Shanghai's reputed Guansheng Garden, all have been transferred to 404.  The goal was to build an atomic bomb.

On August 6, 1945, the United States dropped atomic bombs on Hiroshima, Japan, then on Nagasaki.  This was the first time that nuclear weapons were used in a war in human history.  Since then, the CCP had been attracted by such weapons and had given a nationwide effort to invest in the development of nuclear weapons.

Expert interview: "During the nuclear test, they would send some very healthy young men to receive radiation.  After the radiation, they died quickly, thus giving some data about its effect on human lives."

404 City made the uranium ball, the core component of the atomic bomb.  The operator, Master Yuan Gongpu, was nicknamed as "Yuan Sandao", as he cut the uranium ball precisely, and made the development of the atomic bomb successful.  As a result, he was named a "meritorious worker" for the atomic bomb.  However, due to the radiation, eventually he developed cancer yet couldn't afford anticancer drugs because his pension is only about 2,000 RMB yeans.  He once told the media: “I spent my whole life to build an atomic bomb, and never expected to end up like this in my old age.  I want medicine and I don't have dignity anymore.”

Expert interview: "Those scientists, in fact, they are just tools of the Communist Party.  Their lives, in a sense, were not connected to the outside world.  This is a very sad situation."

Expert interview: "The Chinese Communist Party does not care about human lives."

There was a slogan in this 404 city: "Dedicating our youth then our lives, and dedicating our lives then our children and grandchildren".  There are many unknown people who were kept there all their lives.  Once entering the city, no one knows them and all their three generations.  Had they ever thought of going out?  Why did they come here in the first place?

In fact, the people who were assigned here at that time were mainly divided into three categories.  One was those people who had the idea of a powerful country.  One was those people who studied well, and the others were assigned.

Expert interview: "Most of these young people engaged in democratic elections in Beijing (in the early 1980’s ) had their homes in Beijing.  But the CCP does not like these young people.  So a large group of college graduates were assigned to our institute.  Why?  Our institute is relatively isolated.  In this way, the CCP prevented these young people to stay in Beijing City and cause trouble."

Mr. Li Yang who used to live in 404, now in Beijing, recalled that if kids there can't bear the loneliness of 404, what should they do if they want to go out this place?  Their only way was to take the college entrance exams to leave the city.  But 404 was too isolated from the world, so no one wanted to come and teach.  So the quality of teaching was very poor and the minds were very closed.

Expert interview: "Next to my office, there was a young man who graduated from the Department of Chemistry in Peking University.  This man liked to talk about Sigmund Freud, which resulted in all the old colleagues criticizing him."

You may wonder if this expert Huang Ciping also worked for 404.  In fact, Huang Ciping worked at the 401 Institute that was similar to 404.  Compared to 404, 401 is relatively public, and is called the Institute of Nuclear Energy for the Nuclear Industry Department in China.  At that time, she had excellent grades in schools and was inspired to become the Madame Curie in China.  But facing the cruel reality, she finally gave up her dream and chose to go abroad.  Her boss there even asserted to her that people working in the 401 Institute should walk in alive and only get out by death.

Expert interview: "The CCP is not only engaged in this nuclear development in China.  In fact, it exported nuclear technology to North Korea, Iran, Pakistan, and even Myanmar.  This is a very terrible thing.  Nuclear proliferation will affect the world and it is irresponsible to world peace and the safety of people.

"The CCP does a lot of things secretly, which also violates international treaties."

"For example, the CCP pushed the guilt of the North Korean nuclear issue to Pakistan.  Not right, the CCP has always been responsible for the North Korean nuclear issue."

"What I am most opposed to is that the CCP has mastered these sciences and technologies.  In the past, it mastered nuclear technology, but now it masters biological sciences to achieve its very evil goals.  This is the most terrifying thing.

Although the 404 city made great achievements on the atomic bomb for the CCP, do people here get rewarded for their achievements?  Or do they, as the 404 slogan says, devote their youth until their death?  Perhaps Mr. "Yuan Sandao" is a very good example.  And according to what Huang Ciping knows, in fact, there is not just one secret base like 404 in China, but there are many, so what about the people there now?  After the CCP exported its nuclear technologies to other countries, what about the working people and accompanying residents there?
