[Reporter’s Connection] Democracy Activists Held “Congress on China’s Directions” to Build a Blueprint For a Democratic China

[New Tang Dynasty News, Beijing time, March 05, 2024] On Monday, well-known overseas democracy activists established the first " Congress on China’s Directions" in Washington DC, the capital of the United States, to draw up a blueprint for a democratic China after the collapse of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

Reporter Sheng Yan: "Greetings anchor, the Congress on China’s Directions, recently established by well-known overseas democracy activists, had a press conference in the U.S. Congress on Monday morning. The Congress on China’s Directions was initiated by Wei Jingsheng, Wang Dan, and Wang Juntao, and is dedicated to discussing the democratic development process in China after the collapse of the CCP.”

Overseas democracy activist Wei Jingsheng: "We came up with a program for the founding of a democratic China and give an idea of what the future democratic system will look like."

Wang Juntao, Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese Democratic Party: "The purpose is to tell the world what a post-communist China will look like, and how we can achieve it."

It is reported that this press conference took several months of preparation, and a two-day closed-door session was held over the weekend.

Also present were a number of constitutional experts, scholars and activists.

The Congress on China’s Directions also attracted attention from American political circles. Mike Gallagher, chairman of the United States House Select Committee on Strategic Competition between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party, and Piero Tozzi, staff Director of the U.S. Congressional-Executive Commission on China (CECC), both expressed support.

Piero Tozzi: "There is a higher law above the law. That is Tao. Heaven sees the eyes of the people, and hears the ears of the people. This is democracy."

The " Congress on China’s Directions" began in November last year, with a number of overseas pro-democracy activists launching initiatives in San Francisco.

Congressman Gallagher was also present to express his support.

【记者连线】民运人士举办“国是会议”构建民主中国蓝图

【新唐人北京时间2024年03月05日讯】谢谢陶明。周一，海外知名民运人士在美国首都华盛顿成立首届“国是会议”，为中共垮台后的民主中国勾画蓝图。

记者晟言：“好的主播，近期由海外知名民运人士成立的中国国是会议，周一上午在美国国会举行新闻发布会。该会议是由魏京生，王丹，王军涛发起，致力于探讨中共垮台后，中国的民主发展进程。”

海外民运人士魏京生：“大家拿出一个建国的纲领，对于将来民主制度是什么样的，大家给出一个样子来。”

中国民主党全国委员会主席王军涛：“目的就是一个：告诉世界一个共产主义后的中国会是什么样子，还有，我们怎么能够达到这样的一个世界。”

据悉，这次新闻发布会也是经过了几个月的筹备，并在周末举行了为期两天的闭门研讨活动。

同时与会的还有多名宪法专家、学者和活动人士。

本次会议还受到了美国政界的关注。美众议院中共特别委员会主席麦克•加拉格尔，以及美国国会暨行政当局中国委员会（CECC）幕僚长陶智都表示支持。

美国国会暨行政当局中国委员会幕僚长陶智：“在法律之上还有更高的法律。那就是道。天视自我民视，天听自我民听。这就是民主。”

本次“国是会议”始于去年十一月，由多名海外民运人士在旧金山发布倡议。

当时加拉格尔议员也到场表达支持。
